How much does an AI consultant cost?

My rate is $50 an hour on Upwork. A consultation is $100 for 30 minutes or $200 for an hour. For a project, the cost depends on the work around the model more than on the model itself: checking the data, building a test set, connecting your systems and testing where it will run. I quote after seeing a sample of the data and the target.

What should I bring to a consultation?

  • The goal, and how you would measure success
  • A sample of the real data: images, documents or tasks
  • Your current setup and limits: hardware, cloud, deadline, budget
